About Us

Immersion Analytics began as Bob’s search for an effective way to make sense of and explain relationships between more than a few columns of data.  For example, he wanted a way to see stock options contracts on a volatility surface without losing view of each contracts’ Greeks.  Commonplace plots and charts offer only a few axes (typically X-Y-size-color), a fundamental gap between what you need to see vs. what’s been possible.  This root cause issue impacts nearly all industries and use cases where you need to understand modern data, resulting in poor decisions, unknown unknowns and lost opportunity.

Bob began by commissioning a number of prototypes and rigorously user tested each at leading data science conferences.  Many concepts were discarded along the way.  The work embraced Virtual & Augmented Reality headsets, mindful of research showing that such devices help understanding 3x more data points than is possible on a flat screen.  Today, headsets are optional but recommended.

Going further, our patented Dimensional Engine™ enables you to visualize up to 18 dimensions about each data point — in a single plot.  That’s never been possible before.  It’s enabled by layering numerous special effects about each point, intensity of these effects are used as additional axes.  This proved to be the solution Bob sought to better understand stock options contracts.  It’s proven valuable across a wide array of topics — check out our Solutions menu above for inspiration.  An accomplished product manager, Bob realized the once in a career opportunity to address a fundamental barrier to human understanding of modern data across industries.  Today, Immersion Analytics Visualizer™ is offered on PC, Mac, iOS and smartscreen, as well as on XR devices including Virtual and Augmented Reality for those who also want to see larger datasets than flat screens allow.

Our company has since expanded to offer the Immersion Analytics Runtime as a white label option for enterprise software vendors (ISVs) wanting to incorporate immersive capabilities (including the Dimensional Engine) to differentiate their existing offerings.  Before the Immersion Analytics Runtime, the only way to add immersive capability was to learn unfamiliar tools & technologies such as GPU programming & video game development engines.  With the Immersion Analytics Runtime, developers create native workflow integration between traditional and immersive — from programming languages and tools they already use such as JavaScript, C#, Java, MATLAB, Python and more.
